Wedding ~ Brad ♥ Amber

Happy Hump Day Friends! We have been dying to share this wedding with you all. You will quickly notice all the amazing details of this couple’s special day {feel free to pin away!}. But Brad & Amber clearly were the ones who made the day so memorable. This is one of our weddings where we simply have to let the photos speak for themselves. :)

We met at her parent’s house where she and her bridesmaid’s were getting all dolled up. I love it when the girls do it right with treats and comfy getting-ready shirts.

We woke up on the morning of Brad and Amber’s wedding and took a look out our window and saw storm clouds looming. Rain drops started to pitter-patter and I decided to call Amber to see if she had a “Plan B” since it was an outdoor wedding. She affirmatively declared “no” and that she was getting married in the woods rain or shine. Amber, you rock!

Amber picked out special necklaces and handkerchiefs as gifts for the ladies. And I can’t get over these groomsmen outfits! The boys brought their own pants, shirts, and cool suspenders but the adorable bow ties were picked up from Etsy along with the festive vests.

Amber has a daughter and Brad has a son, junior bridesmaid and groomsman respectively. How perfect is that?! They were the cutest kids ever and a pleasure to work with! Amber gifted Emma a bracelet and powder mirror and Brad gifted “Medium Brad” an engraved pocket watch. How sweet! ♥

Amber, if there was an award for amazing brides you would have gotten the gold! The rain let up at the very last minute and we took photos while water droplets fell from the tree. There are very few brides like Amber who could keep their genuine smile while wearing a Vera Wang gown from David’s Bridal in the damp woods. She looked amazing in that gown and I actually wanted to even try it on! LOL Oh I love Vera Wang! And big bows! ♥

I always think that a first glance is a sweet addition to the wedding day and Amber added her own flare by reading Brad a heartfelt letter before letting him see her. So touching and it was hard not to get teary-eyed while watching them.

I love it when the bride lets the bridesmaids buy their own dresses! These dresses were all from ModCloth and they look fun and stylish!

Brad and Amber were definitely meant to be together! Guests arrived in the woods at Woodland Park Vineyards hoping that the canopy of trees would ward off the rain and were surprised to find the sun gloriously glowing through as if from heaven! I don’t know what would be a clearer sign of their true love! And I thought it was pretty neat to see a sign language interpreter at the ceremony and reception. Amber is also an interpreter and had many deaf friends attend.

I’ve seen unique unity ceremonies but this was the first wedding where I’ve seen one involving the rings. Before the exchange of the rings, they were passed among the immediate family where blessings were bestowed upon them. I’m sure that Brad and Amber can feel their families love through their rings to this day.

I love Brad and Amber’s lovely classic white cake but I was even more amazed by their cake table exploding with cake balls and cupakes. I asked which talented baker supplied all these goodies and I found out that her sister made the cake balls and family friends made the cupcakes! I was blown away! So to all you future brides, check with your family and friends to see if you have closet bakers in your midst. :)

Some of these fabulous vintage details were provided and styled by our friend Allison at Our Vintage Love who also was a big help during Brad and Amber’s fun orchard engagement shoot. So if you need to rent anything fun and vintage or get your event styled, make sure to hit her up.

Yeah, that is Brad’s best friend, not the Mr. or Mrs. for sure! LOL We went to bed the night of Amber’s wedding with vision’s of penants and cupcakes and baby’s breath dancing in our heads but I didn’t actually realize how many fantastic details Amber planned for her wedding until putting together this blog!

Congrats Brad and Amber! We’re so glad that we were able to take your engagement photos and celebrate your wedding with you. It was wonderful meeting you and your families. Make sure to stop by their Event Page and check out the slideshow for more photos. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Sneak Peek: Engagement ~ Brad & Amber

Happy Monday friends! This weekend was very bright and sunshiney…great weather for a fun and happy spring engagement session. :) I surely love this couple’s outfits and the energy that they brought to the shoot! Meet Brad and Amber. ♥

We snapped some photos at the railroad track around the old train station in town. Then we headed off to a blissful orchard to take more relaxed photos. Well, maybe not all relaxed, lol. I can’t help but giggle every time I look at Amber joyfully spring into the air!

And this awesome vintage couch and props wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Allison from Our Vintage Love. If you’re looking for vintage goodies for your wedding, Our Vintage Love definitely has some must-have items! We ended the day just having fun looking through Brad and Amber’s record collection. Oh and I love this last shot, they’re so sweet! ♥ Have a great week everyone! We have so many more fun photos to share! So check back in two weeks to see their full e-session.

Hello Lovely: An Indie Bridal Fair

Hello Lovelies! For the past several weeks we’ve been hyping up the extravaganza of the Hello Lovely Bridal Fair that was held last Sunday in Tulsa. The show was hosted inside Vive Le Ranch {The Barn} on the south side of Tulsa. The point of the whole affair was to help Brides be inspired and connect with Vendors in order to plan a wedding that is Bohemian, Romantic, Vintage, or Rustic. All the decorations, which were painstakingly handmade by the four lovely ladies behind Hello Lovely, brought a festive air to the show but also doubled as wedding inspiration for all the attendees.

Here is our little nook! Kristine worked all week to make the bunting that is strung across the old windows. The basket on the left is full of wildflower seed packets. We wanted to give everyone something and thought it would be a neat idea as wedding favours. And just below that we had an old luggage filled with photos and trinkets. It’s best seen in the top photo. :)

Our good friend Allison {above} from Our Vintage Love volunteered to help at the fair. She worked this delicious cake table! And our little booth was placed right beside Jenny {below} from The Crimson Poppy which we featured here several weeks ago. She creates unique paper flowers that have been used in weddings and even the Oscars! Also, some of the “brides” in the fashion show at Hello Lovely showcased Jenny’s wonderful creations. I love the big pink roses.

There was so much more to the show and we wish we had more to share but we struggled to even get these few snapshots in. We were swamped! Since it rained all day, they had to keep all the doors closed to the barn and the attendees cramed inside. Eveyone barely had enough room to breathe but it was a lot of fun and it brought us all close and personal with the brides. I suspect that there will be many more fun photos posted by the Hello Lovely Ladies, so watch out for it!

My 1950′s Laptop

Happy Friday! Usually I start off my morning with TGIF! But really this week wasn’t half bad…in fact it was kinda fun. It sure helps when you take a day off in the middle of the week. It’s like a mini weekend :) As you read in the Wednesday blog, we did some leap day antiquing in Jenks which is just outside Tulsa, OK. Aaaaand, if you remember I picked up a beautiful heart-melting gem. It was literally like a dream come true. I had pictured myself stumbling into it in some obscure antique shop in the middle of nowhere. But, you know, deep down you know not to keep your hopes up. Scott and I were wandering down adjacent aisles and when we came to the end…there it was! I swear there was a beam of light shining down on it. And it had a label that said 1950′s Laptop! We both gasped {really, LOL} We found it! A 1950′s Turquoise Smith-Corona Typewriter!!! ♥

Oooooh….Ahhhh. I’ll give you a moment.

Isn’t it fantastic? Do you understand why I wanted to put off the surprise? Believe me, I wanted to post it as soon as I got home but it was dark out and I had to give it the justice it deserves. And the best thing about it, it works! All it needs is some re-inking on the ribbon {no sticky keys!}. ♥ It’s funny how such a simple thing can brighten one’s day. Have you been antiquing lately? Maybe picked up something off craigslist or etsy? Tell me what you got in the comment section below! Or if you just want to leave some typewriter love, that’s okay too.

Sneak Peek: Engagement ~ Scott & Jessica

Happy Monday everyone! I’m excited to start the week with some sneak peek photos taken on Saturday. We beat the crowd of “America’s greatest Homecoming celebration” to take some sweet engagement photos of Scott & Jessica. We started out at an Italian restaurant in town where they first met on a blind date! ♥ Also Scott is a huge football fan, so we fought our way over to the University to get in some more shots.

These two were actually so much fun to photograph. They were naturally sweet to each other. Jessica is stunning! And I could tell that Scott would do anything to make her happy.

I can’t wait to show you the rest of their session and tell you their engagement story, so make sure to check back in two weeks. Ciao! Have a wonderful day!

Tummy Rumbles: It’s All About The Details

Hello Blue Ely friends! I hope your Wednesday is awesome. ;) A few weeks ago, the write up below was posted at Stillwater’s Community Connection website. I would like to thank Sherry and Courtney for giving us the opportunity to reach out to Stillwater and share some thoughts! This is the first of several posts on her site on how to get the most out of your events and photo sessions. Read on…

As wedding photographers, we tend to notice the little things. You always hear the phrase – “it’s all about the details”. And we believe that these extra little things help make an occasion fun, unique, beautiful, and memorable for everyone. This young couple that we photographed, Josh & Judith, came up with some truly inspiring details for their wedding and we want to share some of these ideas with you.

We market ourselves as fun, vintage, and creative photographers. So, we tend to attract brides that plan their weddings with a vintage and creative feel. Also, our brides make the most of their budgets with unique do-it-yourself details. Josh and Judith married at the backyard of a beautiful 104 year-old home in Muskogee owned by Josh’s aunt, Julie. Instead of paying for an expensive venue, they took advantage of family resources, allowing them to put more money into other wedding things. So be on the lookout for a home or backyard of a family member that might work very well as a venue or reception. We love outdoor weddings. I think the combination of nature with the formality and elegance of the day is enchanting.

The first hint of the uniqueness to Judith’s wedding showed up in guest’s mailboxes a couple months before the wedding. I loved her invitations! Judith collected vintage handkerchiefs and she and her friend designed the invitation on it and had them screen printed at Stillwater Screenprinting & Embroidery. Very cool idea!

And would you believe that Whole Foods made her organic bouquet!? They did such a terrific job with the flowers! Her mom even did her own creative spin by pinning the bride and bridesmaids’ bouquet with fun brooches. So cuuuuuute!

Judith painstakingly made the groomsmen’s boutonnieres. We love DIY brides! These whimsical boutonnieres were made from old book pages and green berries. They went great with the linen suits.

How wonderful that she painted her toe nails blue for her ‘something blue’. And she also added a fun twist to the men’s wardrobe by having them wear argyle socks that were in line with her wedding colors.

The centerpieces were white ceramic vases on top of silver trays filled with arrangements consistent with the bridesmaid bouquets. She also used old book pages to wrap small simple votive candles to give the reception an extra ambiance after the sun set. For more evening lighting, there were white Japanese lanterns hanging around the reception area that were lit up beautifully.

The mismatched floral china was a fun eclectic way to bring both a vintage theme and refinement to the reception dinner. Some mismatches can surely be lovely. ♥

A popular idea that always goes over well with guests is using mason jars as glasses. But what I loved the most was how Judith tagged straws (striped in her wedding color) so that guests could label and keep track of their drinks. Oh and she even let the guests take them home too, so these jars doubled as wedding favours!

Check out her cake topper, isn’t it so adorable!? She picked out a really fun one from an Etsy store and it even matched Josh’s tie :) And she also made these mustache props. They are quite easy to make actually and brings more fun and quirkiness to the photos.

Even with all these little details, she still wanted the ceremony area to look simple and clean. But knowing Judith there’s always a little bit of a surprise. The trees in the backyard created a beautiful natural arbor but I bet the guests couldn’t help but smile when they saw the vintage chandelier hanging from the trees. It added a magical touch to the ceremony. Again, it’s these little elements that make your day unforgettable and it doesn’t need to be costly. You can rummage through your mom’s or grandparent’s old stuff, check out thrift stores, or look online for DIY projects. :)

Engagement ~ Brandon ♥ Katy

Welcome back friends! I have been so excited to post this engagement shoot, that I’ve even been impatient with myself, LOL. Meet the sweet and kind-hearted Katy and Brandon. We traveled to the old capital of Oklahoma for this wonderful session.

Katy is artistic and stylish and, along with her mom, loves vintage things. Katy came up with the absolutely fantastic idea of doing an urban shoot in Guthrie. There was a western bank robbery street play that was going on close to where we had the session. We saw part of it and was amused.

Ah the buildings are so neat and beautiful! Katy loves browsing the antique shops which we totally understand. When we scouted out the town the week before, we spent waaaaay too much time self-indulging in the shops. Oh and there was one shop with a wall filled with old cameras. I was in heaven! ♥

Love the American Gothic rendition! And love love love the settee. I am planning to go back and buy the one that they are sitting on. I am so glad the owners of these shops were kind enough to allow us to take some photos inside. ;) Katy has wonderful ideas already for her wedding and we can’t wait for their special day in May. I could talk to Katy for hours about all her details. It’s going to be another beautiful wedding in the Enchanted Woods and it’s going to be chalked full of vintage goodness ♥

Brandon is so caring and obviously makes Katy so happy. He spent his high school years admiring Katy from afar. But as fate would have it, they didn’t get acquainted until their senior year in High School. They’ve been inseparable ever since.

We were having so much fun on the shoot, exploring Guthrie together, that we almost missed lunch. So, on Brandon’s recommendation, we headed over to Stables Café. I could not have wished for of a place with better food or ambiance. It had that fun small town diner feel and of course I couldn’t help but snap a few more shots before the food was up.

Well check out more of their photos on their Event Page. I had such a hard time picking the ones that should go on the blog versus the slideshow. They were all just so fun and wonderful! Oh and I love the song that goes with the slideshow, so take a listen to it. ♥ Happy Wednesday y’all and I hope you have a good one!

Senior ~ Millie

Happy Monday! I have a lovely girl’s sweet smile to start off your week. The moment Millie answered the door to her house, I instantly knew she was going to be such a sweet girl. She stood there all smiles and happily introduced herself. This was our first time meeting and it was an awesome way to set the tone of the day! She mentioned before how she loves music and playing the piano so she did play for us and boy she was good!

She had such a beautiful house and we definitely made use of it during our shoot. Thanks to her wonderful mom who took part in designing their home. I actually told Millie at one point that at some angles she looked like Paris Hilton, maybe a younger version but again I think she’s prettier inside and out!

Her personality shines in these photos. She actually is very down-to-earth, fun, and a joy to work with. Her mom’s bougainvilleas were blooming and bright. I love them! Reminded me of home ♥ And I still can’t get over her cute sneakers. Such a cool and creative gift!

She also told us that she’s going to get her hair cut shorter and will be donating it to Locks of Love. I find that so sweet and selfless. ♥ After we did a quick outfit change, she showed us her very cool car which I was pretty jealous about by the way. Driving this orange 1970 Datsun Roadster convertible, you surely won’t miss her. Such a nice vintage car and super cuuuuute!

I ♥ the top sun flare photo. It was such a beautiful sunshiny afternoon and her dog, Gentry, even joined in for a few shots. She was kinda scared and leery to stand on her car since she doesn’t like the sound that the engine makes LOL ;) Check out the slideshow on her Event Page for more photos. Have a lovely day!

Sneak Peek: Senior ~ Millie

Happiest Monday friends! I hope you are having a wonderful start to your week ;) I am at least enjoying my time looking at photos from yesterday’s senior photo session. Meet Millie ♥ She is such a sweet and talented girl! We had an awesome time taking photos of her around her beautiful home.

Millie is actually very down-to-earth, she loves music and she’s quite a piano player. ;) We ventured outside since the weather was pretty nice. I love her outfit here and check out her shoes, it rocks! Her friend doodled on them, pretty creative and cool!

Isn’t she so dang gorgeous!?! Here’s one final shot, I am so jealous of her cute 1970 Datsun Roadster convertible ♥ Oh, I can’t wait to go through all her photos, there were lots of fun ones that you gotta see in two weeks! Have a good one!

Sneak Peek: Engagement ~ Brandon & Katy

Happy Monday friends! Don’t you wish Mondays were always like this – a Holiday!?! I wish too! Anyway, we had such an awesome weekend of photo sessions and meeting new clients. We feel so blessed. Last Saturday, we headed off to the historic town of Guthrie, Oklahoma for a fun-filled engagement shoot of the very sweet couple ~ Brandon & Katy.

We spent a lot of time walking around downtown, checking out old buildings and gardens, and we event took photos inside the antique shops! Guthrie is known for these shops and you could definitely spend a couple of days browsing all of them. The owners were so kind to let us have fun in their store.

Oh my gosh, I cannot wait to finish sorting through their photos, lots of fun shots! And actually, this is just part one of their travel-themed engagement session. The second location will be shot later this month so I’ll be posting a sneak peek of that one too, then finally make a huge blog of both sessions. Can’t wait! Anyway, enjoy your day and smile! ;)
