Joey & Suzie ~ A Cupcake Engagement
Happy Wednesday Friends! We have some midweek eye-candy for you. :) We have been wanting to do a shoot just like this for a long time but just couldn’t find the perfect clients. Well, we bumped into these two lovebirds who just happen to be getting married and everything fell into place! Meet Joey & Suzie. ♥

Suzie is a very creative and talented girl. She made the bunting herself and baked all the cupcakes for the shoot. And I love her outfit. She looks so cute!

Suzie works in a cupcake shop while finishing up school. One day I was picking out a cupcake and made the statement that I would love to take engagement photos in the shop but that I’m not sure I have a client for it. It was then that Suzie told me that she had a feeling that she might be that client very soon. Yay!

Joey and Suzie had run into each other a couple times, but it wasn’t until taking a trip to Colorado with some friends that they fully got acquainted. After spending a glorious week in Colorado and hiking their first fourteener, they took a 12-hour car ride home together and had a blast. The very next day they had their first date. They bought snow cones and walked around the lake. Sounds perfect!

The story goes that Joey and Suzie love to eat at a certain Asian restaurant in town. So they got some food to go and headed out to their favourite spot to fish along the river. When they got there, Joey set up a sweet picnic which included an ice chest of Suzie’s favourite…raspberry ginger ale. Yum! They didn’t fish. Instead it was there that Joey asked Suzie to marry him!

In our opinion Suzie makes the best cupcakes in town! She loves to bake and it just happens that Joey loves to cook. It was a match made in heaven!

If Suzie is the baking genius, Joey would be a fishing genius. When we met them to discuss engagement photos, we shared an engagement session we did by a lake back in January. Mind you, this is not a well known lake at all. He guessed the name of the lake on his first try! This guy has had some pretty amazing catches and I’m sure Suzie’s at the top of that list.

That guitar isn’t a prop! Joey is a talented guitar player. It was very pleasant shooting while he serenaded Suzie. :) Aren’t they so cute together?!

Before meeting Joey, Suzie had never fished before. When she made her first catch she took a photo and posted it. She told us that her sister declared she must be in love! I’d say she was right!

They didn’t catch anything but still enjoyed the spring weather and watched the sun set over the water. It was actually so nice out that we all lamented having to go and wished we had brought brats to roast over a campfire.

Joey and Suzie are so sweet to each other! I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in August. Just based on the details that Suzie brought to the shoot, I know her wedding will be very special.

It’s shoots like this that encourage me to pick up my camera everyday. And there’s more! So head on over to the slideshow on the Event Page. Happy Hump Day!
