Derek & Tamara ~ A Shawnee Picnic Engagement

Happy Monday and I have an awesome way to start your week! We shot this adorable couple in the quaint and delightful town of Shawnee, Oklahoma. This town definitely has some charm and we wouldn’t have wanted to explore it with anyone other than this lovely couple. Meet Derek & Tamara! ♥

Derek and Tamara met their freshman year of college but it wasn’t until right before graduation that they finally started dating. And it was actually at this very spot, The Ritz Theatre, that they made it official. We totally came upon these vine covered stairs by chance in a back alley! Lucky that!

I love what you can do with chalk! Fun! Each of them wrote what they love about each other. They are actually very sweet and kind. Both of them are just up for anything that we suggest them to do and yes, including laying on the sidewalk! Aren’t they pretty cute!?

Derek popped the question on a Good Friday, it definitely was a “good friday”! So the story goes, they were both dressed up for church. Derek suggested they stop at a park because he had a surprise for Tamara. {With this, she started wondering if he was going to ask!} They sat down on a bench. He had brought cream soda, her favourite, and started reading her a letter that he wrote. It was such a sweet and meaningful letter that Tamara began to cry!

After Derek finished reading the love letter, he pulled out a vintage ring box from his rain jacket. He got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said yes! But they were so caught up in the whole affair that he forgot to put the ring on her finger, LOL!

Hearing their story, you can tell how much thought was put into making a perfect moment. Not only did Derek pick out the ring but he also found the perfect vintage ring box for it as well! How touching!

This darling couple loves picnics! They always bring cream soda in bottles just like when Derek proposed. This time they decided to make it special with some delicious cupcakes bought from Cuppies & Joe in Oklahoma City. They looked delicious!

Derek & Tamara brought along some children’s books that have meaning to them. This one book has extra special meaning because Derek customized it into a scrapbook! How cool is that!? I love sessions like this, when the couple do what they enjoy doing together and just run and have fun with it.

According to Derek, Shawnee is quite the windy little town. So they like to take advantage and fly kites together. They surely look like they are having fun. Oklahoma Baptist University is surely a beautiful place to spend nice summer days like this. Sweet!

Tamara is actually quite crafty! She made this cute LOVE banner herself! I love the little trinkets hanging here and there. And isn’t her dress just oh so lovely!? I love love love it!

Awww, I love how they love each other. ♥ You have to check out the rest in their slideshow on the Event Page. I hope this brightened your day!

Event ~ Henry’s 1st Birthday

Happy Mother’s Day! I have the perfect post for all you mom’s out there. If you’re not a mom you need to check this out anyway because these photos are so darn precious! Welcome to Henry’s whimsical woodsy wonderland! Celebrating his very first birthday perfectly situated amongst the trees of the park.

I almost died when I saw the bird and toadstool cupcakes! Kelli special ordered them from Cake Crazy here in town and they fit perfectly into Henry’s woodsy birthday theme. And they were delicious too! I couldn’t resist snatching a toadstool because I love Cake Crazy’s red velvet.

Fruit kabobs! Awesome idea mom. All of Henry’s favourite snacks for everyone to share were placed among his forest friends. Henry’s mom and dad kept the affair close knit by inviting only close family. It made the day that much more extra special for Henry. We felt honored to be included in this milestone in Henry’s life.

Everyone got their very own mason jar for ice tea with their name. Kelli even made ones for us. Thanks again Kelli for including us in Henry’s special day! The family cut and tied each strip to make this fabulous bunting. (If you don’t know we have a special place in our hearts for bunting.) Kelli is such a creative mom!

Time to party! The table is set with an amazing spread of goodies, the multicoloured balloons are tied and the family is all here! Happy Birthday Henry!

Make a wish! Put into his birthday throne, Henry was given his very own giant lemon cupcake! Mmmmm…

It looks like Henry liked his cupcake, lol. He made sure to lick the plate clean! Time for presents! Henry’s Dad, two big brothers, and cousins came to help!

There are many firsts for Henry for his first year but I bet riding the slide by himself was on the top of his list! Weeee! And the rest of the kids played the afternoon away riding around the park. It was so much fun that even Grandpa joined in!

Worn out from sliding with mom and dad. Henry took a break and had a blast being pushed and pulled through a magical wonderland of bubbly fun.

Happy Birthday Henry! I want my next birthday party to be this fun and creative! Make sure you check out more birthday goodness in the slideshow on the Event Page. Give your Mom or the closest one available a hug today!

Family ~ The Davises

Hello, there! I have been wanting to post these photos for awhile. I was just waiting for this cool family to come back from their 3-week vacation. I know, right!? I would love to be off for 3 weeks! The ice cream sundae party idea came from Kelli, and of course I bit right into it since I know it would be fun ;) Plus who doesn’t like ice cream on a hot Sunday afternoon?! Drew, Ben, and their dad David were having the best of times from serving ice cream to everyone, putting toppings on their sundaes, then off to play. The toppings were really delicious!

The boys started playing baseball but then decided instead of batting balls they can just start hitting bubbles. They had so much fun whacking them!

I’m sure baby Henry wished he could have had some ice cream but I think he just enjoyed watching everyone play and be merry. He even got to go on his first swing ride with his mommy. He liked it. The backyard with the whole swing and house play set looks pretty darn cool. I’m sure they could play for hours!

I think the boys were pretty exhausted by the end of their play time. They just hung out in their playhouse and just laughed at their dad’s jokes.

Go ahead and check out more of their fun Sunday afternoon on their Event Page. Have a happy Monday!

Sneak Peek: Family ~ The Davises

If you’ve been keeping up, last weekend we headed out to take some sweet photos of Baby Henry. Well, yesterday we revisited to get some snapshots of some good ol’ backyard fun! It was an ice cream party! Henry, along with his older brother’s Ben and Drew all joined in on the fun. Here’s a few shots we took yesterday and more Baby Henry photos are soon to follow this week :)

Ben and his big brother, Drew, surely do love all the toppings! Then a lot of play time followed afterwards. Even including baby Henry, who loved the swing ride.

What a beautiful and sweet family! Happy Monday! ;)

Kids ~ Sofie & Lily

I’ve been ansty (really!) to post these adorable pictures of Sofie and Lily. We spent a magical Saturday with them as the sun set in a botanical garden. Since I know that Sofie and Lily love The Beatles I thought it would be appropriate to attach the following song. I think it’s a perfect way to set the mood. So make sure to play it while browsing through these fun photos! Enjoy!

These two princesses are a joy to be with. It really was fun to hang out with two sweet little girls. They happily went along with anything. But then again, how could bubbles, cupcakes, and drawing in a botanical garden not be fun?! And boy they looked so cute in their matching lace dress and flower clips! ♥

Speaking of gardens: they love the outdoors and Lily especially likes to climb trees when she’s not in her Easter dress. They even don’t mind the bugs! They laugh when their buggy boxelder friends tickle while crawling on their arm and cry when one gets hurt :) We truly lucked out with the beautiful warm weather when we visited the gardens. I could tell how they loved playing in the sun. I bet they can’t wait for the summer!

They love art but their favorite is definitely drawing and I thought it was so cute how they included each other in there self-portraits ♥ I can tell Lily has been practicing her bunny rabbits :)

Sofie, 6, and Lily, 4, like to play but they are happy to help out too! They enjoy helping their mom make dinner in the kitchen and plant flowers in the garden. They really are two great kids. I can’t get enough of these two cute smiling faces ♥

Sneak Peek: Kids ~ Sofie and Lily

I feel like I fell down a rabbit hole today and popped out into a magical garden to be greeted by two sweet little girls – one blond and one brunette. It was so enchanting and fun chasing after Sofie and Lily as the sun settled on the horizon. They blew bubbles, shared cupcakes, read to each other, and of course explored every inch of the garden. Aren’t these girlies adorable!?! I love how they drew each other on their chalk boards ;) ♥

Family ~ The Bellinghausens

Happy Monday friends! Here’s some warm photos to shake away those Monday blues :) It was a nice Sunday afternoon when we took Kris’ family photos. The family had asked us to take candid shots as much as possible and Shannon warned us that her and Libby are very camera shy. Libby is a smart little girl and a carefree spirit. She is also pretty and I wasn’t surprised to hear that she has a boyfriend, oh puppy love ♥. When she grows up she wants to be either an astronaut or a fashion designer. I don’t see why she can’t be both and create designer spacesuits ;) Her cute dress suited her perfectly since it was created as part of a college design project and her favourite colour is pink. They just wanted a relaxed and laid-back photo shoot; more of walking around the pond and just spending time with Libby. Oh and she even insisted on touching her mom’s belly in her own unique way. After all, Kris and Shannon are expecting their second Baby early April. Yes, she is very close to giving birth to another baby girl, Brooksley ♥. What a cool name! Shannon said she got the name from a woman she admires, Brooksley Born, who was the chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in the 90′s and known to be the woman who warned about the financial crisis early on. Libby is really excited to see her little sister soon! Without further ado here’s a nice laid-back afternoon with the Bellinghausens.

Kid: Little Miss Marlee

Marlee just turned two years old a few weeks ago and she’s absolutely adorable. She’s quite shy but very cute. We arrived at their place and her mom was preparing something delicious for us to eat before the shoot, traditional Filipino food. Yum. Very hospitable indeed. So while everyone was busy cooking, I went ahead and took her out for a walk at their little pond and we watched frogs jump into the water and we did chase some butterflies. She spent lots of time running through their green field, picking up flowers for her mom, and chasing grasshoppers too. Later on, she blew some bubbles with her mommy which she enjoyed a lot. She was so cute in her outfits, so girly ♥ Shy, yes, but boy when she smiles, it’s the sweetest little smile that could brighten your day =) So here are some photos of the fun-filled weekend with Marlee.

Hope you guys are having an awesome weekend!
