Happy hump day everyone! Well, the wait is over and I have more senior photos to share of the lovely Abi. ♥ Abi is a budding artist and we wanted to express her free-spirited personality by taking photos in a small forest-like grove. :)

Isn’t she pretty? The funny {and amazing} thing about the photos and that day was that Abi looks so serene and relaxed on this seemingly warm spring day. When in reality it was freezing cold {50 degrees F} with winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour. This is one of many things that makes Abi amazing. She’s calm, cool, and collected on even the craziest of days. We were so proud of her!

When I {K} saw the writing on her wrist I thought she liked to draw on herself. It’s an innocent mistake, lol! I even brought a sharpie to the shoot. I like to letter on my hands and arms and I thought that Abi {a fellow artist} did the same. But this is an actual tattoo on her wrist! It means “love” in Icelandic. ♥ She likes the Icelandic language and particularly likes the band Sigur Rós {love them, so ethereal!}.

I love her outfits! ♥ they are so much fun. Abi likes to paint in her spare time but wants to go to school to study film. And she is actually taking a trip to England this summer! I’m so jealous! Well, I wish her the best with everything she does. She definitely has a unique spirit and I hope we cross paths again someday.

This isn’t all! Hop on over to the Event Page to check out a slideshow of more pics. I put it to music from her favourite band. I think it is very Abi which means it’s pretty awesome! So check it out and have a fun week!

Happy Monday folks! It’s wonderful to see that Spring is finally around the corner. :) This weekend we ventured into a forest grove area to take senior photos of the budding artist Abi. Oh man, the weather really caught us off guard with temperatures in the low 50s and winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour! It was crazy but I have to congratulate Abi and her mom. They were so awesome! They pushed through without a complaint (even though they had to have been freezing!) Well, I think it all paid off. Here’s a quick peek! Meet Abi.

Isn’t she so cute!? I still can’t get over her blue eyes. Gorgeous! And I so much love her outfit below. ;)

And there’s just something about this last photo that I love so much. ♥ Don’t go too far, we’ll be posting more of the session soon. Have a great week! :)

Happy Monday Everyone! How did your weekend go? Scott and I had so much fun yesterday since we got to visit a really cool businesswoman and artist in town, Jenny of The Crimson Poppy. We’re big into supporting local businesses and love her creative work so we thought we could connect with her. She is so talented and so nice and cheerful to talk to! And her paper flowers were so darn gorgeous! She’s an awesome multi-tasker. She was talking to us about business, the upcoming Hello Lovely bridal show, various types of florist papers, the DIY Flower Kits she made, while at the same time she was unconsciously making pretty small flower pieces. She’s one busy girl! And I’m sure it has been crazy these past few months for her with interviews and features everywhere. I love her feature on Southern Weddings and Brides magazine; the flowers she made for them were stunning!

It all started when Jenny decided to do something different with her own wedding…using paper flowers! She found instructions and do-it-yourself kits online but quickly out-grew them in the search for more realistic creations. Many of her beautiful works of art were discovered by taking apart real flowers, lol. Well, in the process of doing all this research she had created many wonderful items like cards and decorations. With the encouragement of friends and family she started selling these creations in local shops and online. It wasn’t long before she was being asked to create flowers for weddings and even the Golden Globes and The Oscars! That’s right, she gave away DIY paper flower kits to celebrities in their swag bags. Wow! Isn’t that awesome?!

I love these gigantic flowers that she had and I think they’re actually pretty popular right now with brides. Instead of a regular flower bouquet, I’ve seen brides just holding one gigantic flower. Pretty unique! And what’s more unique is having one made out of paper that looks so real and hey you can actually keep it forever. Anyway, I’m just so excited to share this since I just love it when brides bring something different to their weddings…be it a paper flower bouquet, boutonnieres, a hairpiece, or what, I’m sure Jenny can get it covered *wink*. Support your local everything! Stop by her website or like her Facebook page and help her win a commercial, I’m sure you will like what you see.

This past Wednesday, I took a mini-vacation. Just for a day. I was able to visit a part of Oklahoma City that I’ve never been before, The Paseo Arts District. It’s just a curved, two-block street that has maintained its Spanish revival architecture with original stucco buildings with clay tile roofs still intact. I happened to stop by Gallery One at Design Center, one of the many galleries in the district. The gallery is a house to several artists, and I was happy to get to talk to one – PJ Acker. She’s a very nice and talented lady. She started out with a background in nursing but has been drawn into the world of arts as long as she could remember, thus she continues to work on her art passion. Her work includes different mediums of expression, from charcoal, to pastel, oil, acrylic, and watercolor, then sculpture.

During the visit she was happily working and talking at the same time about her love for sculpting. This is work and play for her. Work, since she gets to sell her pieces once they’re done and some pieces that were made-to-order. But at the same time, Play, since this is something that she loves doing and is passionate about. She loves being a sculptor. I could see the twinkle in her eyes as she molds clay into her hands while talking about the adventures that she went through while working on her latest piece. She looked very happy and content. I thought this is a good balance between work and play, so I’m using the first photo below as my entry for this week’s challenge at Ramblings and Photos for this week’s theme of “Work and Play.”

This is PJ’s latest piece. I thought this mother-child piece was so beautiful. You could see the emotion and strength in the mother’s eyes and the baby on her back is laughing. She’s a warrior and a mother. PJ just recently added the baby on the back. I bet the finished piece will look wonderful since she envisioned the baby to be tugging and eating part of her hair. She wants it this way coz that’s what babies naturally do. She likes to put details on her work that reflects motherhood; and it clearly shows. I asked permission of course to post this photo since she’s still currently working on this piece. I called her today and she is as sweet and happy as I remember her the other day. Such a nice lady!

You can check out more of her work on her website http://www.pjackerart.com/. Support your Local Everything!
Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your 3-day weekend! Yay! ♥
