Wedding ~ Joe ♥ Katie

Happy Saturday folks! We normally don’t post on Saturdays because we tend to be at a wedding but we got a bit of a break today {since we shot one yesterday} and we’ve been excited to share this particular wedding celebration. Once you scroll down you’ll quickly see the uniqueness of this wedding but really we loved Joe & Katie’s wedding so much because of the heart that was put into it and the atmosphere of mutual friendship. ♥

We met the girls in the morning at All About You Salon and Spa. They did a fabulous job on her hair and makeup which was inspired by her retro hairstyles book. Katie’s ivory dress was amazing! And choosing wedding flats is always a great idea. No use stressing your feet on your special day.

As the boys and girls got ready, the best man and maid of honor helped Joe and Katie do a pre-wedding gift exchange. It’s always so touching to see a couple, through the hoopla of a wedding, manage to give each other personal gifts. And Joe gave his guys Scottish necklaces.

Isn’t Katie beautiful?! She looked like a queen! The perfect bride for a strapping Scotsman! And Scott’s House of Flowers did a beautiful job on her flowers.

Katie gave her girls Celtic knot charms. And yes, those are real Scottish kilts below! Complete with bow-ties, sporrans {not purses!}, thistle boutonnieres, and beards! These guys are so funny too! I felt like I was in some comedy movie every time I was hanging out with them.

You know how we feel about a first glance during the wedding day. It was so sweet seeing their expressions when they finally got to see each other. These two lovebirds are definitely meant to be together!

I love unique and beautiful rings like Katie’s engagement ring. It has an heirloom look to it. Joe & Katie exchanged vows in the Little Chapel of Lawton. The old world charm of this church built in 1902 was perfect for their ceremony. It was beautiful watching Katie walked down the aisle by her mother with the glow of the stained glass windows.

The Scottish humanist ceremony written by Joe was beautiful. There was the unpinning of Katie’s family tartan and the pinning of Joe’s family tartan to welcome Katie to the family. He kept it authentic to Scottish tradition while including personal touches such a grand recessional to the throne room music from Star Wars. Truly Epic!

All the guests were asked by Joe and Katie to join them on a berm before heading to the reception at Cameron University! How cool! It’s not everyday that you get a request to have everyone in the photo, every single one!

There was plenty of delicious food and merry-making to celebrate their wonderful day! Family and friends got caught up and many took a spin on the dance floor! It had a friendly laid back feel just like how they wanted it.

I love this last photo! Congrats Joe and Katie! We’re so glad that we were able to take this little trip to Lawton, OK and celebrate your wedding with you. It was wonderful meeting you and your families. Make sure to stop by their Client Site and check out the slideshow for more photos. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
